Mesut Ozil has played down reports that he was ready to leave Real Madrid for Manchester United.
The playmaker has had a disappointing start to the La Liga season, and his performances have been criticized by the Spanish press. Talksport have dampened the rumours of his departure though, with Ozil claiming:
“I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.”
“There is no need for me to go.”
Manchester United were linked with the German international while he was at Werder Bremen, before his move to the Spanish capital, but fans may have to wait longer to see young Mesut in red. United’s new look side have their own former German based playmaker in the form of Shinji Kagawa, but were someone who possessed talent as great as Ozil to come available, creativity would certainly not be a problem for Sir Alex’s side.
