Ben McAleer Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is prepared to spend up to £15m for Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen.
The Wales international, currently representing Team GB at the summer Olympics, has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, following Rodgers’ appointment last month.
The Reds were thought to have had an agreement in place that meant they couldn’t move for any Swans player until next summer.
However, Rodgers has now set his sights on the 22-year-old as he looks to make his first move in the transfer window.
Liverpool are expected to move for Allen once the sale of Alberto Aquilani goes through, with the Italian expected to secure a move to Fiorentina.
The 28-year-old secured a big money switch to Liverpool from AS Roma in 2009, but has struggled with injuries and form and recently spent time on loan with AC Milan and Juventus.
