Crouch does his best to sell Stoke

Peter Crouch may be many things, big gangly striker, chat show host with his originally named "On the couch with Peter Crouch" and now he is trying his hand as tourist guide by attempting to convince Michael Owen to join the lovely surroundings of Staffordshire with a move to Stoke City.

Owen has failed to find a club since his release from Manchester United and after being linked with move to Tony Pulis' side, Crouch is trying to urge his former England team-mate to move to the Britannia.

Crouch told the Sun, the newspaper not the star in the sky which he is probably tall enough to have a chat with, that signing for Stoke would not be a move down for the horse-racing lover from Chester.

Doing his best to masquerade as a travel agent, Crouch said that Pulis and his men were building something worthwhile in the Potteries and even though it's not as attractive as the big clubs Owen is used to, this could be a great move for the striker.

Owen, who sees a lot of the treatment table with a history of bad injuries, had previously been linked with a move to Everton but the Toffees decided Owen was not their man and duly pulled out of a move.

Now he is likely to join Pulis' Potters and with Crouch doing his best to be the travel brochure to enhance the appeal of the move by saying he has no regrets coming to Staffordshire, it looks likely he may add the Britannia to his long run of clubs.
