Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse for Liverpool, the club confirmed last night that Martin Kelly will be out for at least six months with ruptured knee ligaments.
Liverpool, who were beaten 2-1 by rivals Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, have been unable to register a win in the five matches they have played in the league this season and news of Kelly's injury only compounds the Merseyside club's poor start to the season.
Kelly sustained his injury in the game against United where Liverpool took the lead only for a contentious late Robin van Persie penalty handed the win to Alex Ferguson's team.
There was some good news for Brendan Rodgers, however, as Daniel Agger's injury, also picked up in Sunday's game, doesn't appear to be as serious as initially thought.
