I think the general consensus among United fans will be one of relief upon the repeated assurances from both United manager Alex Ferguson and - more recently - Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, that Wayne Rooney will be going nowhere this summer.

A short move up the A34 to Manchester, of the United variety, has been rumoured for the best part of 12 months; thanks largely to questions over the suitability of David De Gea.

Sean Wilson Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski played a big part in the club's two dramatic title wins over the last two years, but with a hat-trick of Bundesliga trophies pretty much out of reach now, he seems to be looking for pastures new (according to Sky Sports). His agent has confirmed that he will not be signing a new contract, which has 18 months left to run, and will most likely be sold during this period. The Polish striker's 14 goals so far this season have been incredibly valuable to his current side's challenge for a precious Champions League spot, helping them to their current 2nd placed standing.

United tried, and failed, to sign midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama in the January transfer window, with the Kenyan committing his future to Celtic until the end of the season, at which point he said 'the doors can be open for a move'. The question is, though, will United revitalise their interest in the young midfielder? And just as importantly, should they?

Yet another rumour linking David de Gea with a move away from Manchester United. It seems like the Spaniard's critics are clutching at straws to find evidence of a move away from the Premier League. However – as per usual – this rumour has as little substance as most. While Atletico Madrid may very well wish to have their old stopper back on loan for a season, their current on-loan keeper Courtios, shouldn't be returning home any time soon. The young Belgian has impressed since moving to Spain, and unless a deal is offered to the high-flying Atletico side, I don't see why they would feel the need to push for a move.
