Blues open striker talks
Friday, August 10, 2012 at 12:00 PM | by Ben McAleer Chelsea have entered talks with Serie A outfit Napoli over the potential move for prized striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguay international has been attracting interest from a number of Europe’s heavyweights following another prolific campaign with the Italian giants.
Napoli are believed to be ready to listen to offers as little as €35m, a fee that has seen the Blues pursue their interest in the 25-year-old, having pulled out of the running to sign FC Porto front-man Hulk.

torres will be back next weekend ..
For around 27.5 million pounds in this market I think cavani would be a steal. I like hazard and think he will bring good things for the club but he cost 32 million. I mean William is reported to be worth around 30 million. William and Cavani play totally different styles and positions but Cavani is in a completely different class. Cavani is a top level finisher and has an extremely high work rate and can score from anywhere- in the air, out side the box, anywhere. I honestly dont think that Cavani is a "necessary" purchase. Hopefully Torres gets firing and if the club has faith in him then thy have to believe he will. We also have sturridge behind him who I think could just be waiting to break out. People criticize him all the time which I think is ridiculous. He scored 8 goals in 12 games as striker at Bolton. He scored 11 goals playing out of position as a winger before Christmas. This alone should show that he can be world class. Given time hopefully he will fulfill his potential. This is why I feel Cavani is not necessary. But for the relative cheap price of 27.5 million pounds I am very surprised Chelsea or another top level club haven't snagged him up yet. I think purchasing him could discourage Torres and sturridge so in all reality i understand why we haven't made the bid yet but the price that he is goin for is a steal. Cavani is a world class player and if we could do a rotation like city did then Cavani would be easily welcomed in a blue jersey
