Gunners plot controversial striker swoop

Arsenal are planning a late summer swoop for Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe.

The Spurs man has been heavily linked with a move away from White Hart Lane having failed to impress Andre Villas-Boas in pre-season.

The Gunners are keen to bring in a new front-man before the close of the transfer window and may look to the England international to help replace Robin van Persie.
