At the start of another Premier league season much debate has gone into who will be title contenders. Many believe City will retain the tile after such a successful year, others believe United could win their 20th title especially with Rooney and Van Persie up front.

But as an outside shot it has to be Chelsea. They have the potential and squad to push both Manchester teams all the way. With the summer signings that Di Matteo has brought in, Chelsea look a strong unit.

Eden Hazard has been the stand out player in the first two games for Chelsea. Much promise was made of the Belgian when he moved from Lille in the summer, watching him in the Premiership he has a similar playing style to David Silva and everyone knows how effective he has been for Man City.

Along with Hazard, Di Matteo has made some intelligent signings to make his squad one that is worthy of winning the title. He has bought young players that have potential to become stars in signing Oscar and Marin. His midfield is full of talent and he has plenty of players that have the ability to contribute scoring goals as well as tightening up the defence.

This season will also prove to be vital for Fernando Torres’ Chelsea career. For the first time in his career since he was at Liverpool Torres is regarded as the main striker in the club. Without Drogba he knows the responsibility is on him to be the 20 plus goal scorer for the club. Torres thrives on this pressure as it showed at Liverpool when he and Gerrard linked up so well together.

If Chelsea can keep up their form at the start of the season then they could be real candidates for the league title.
