Preston North End Look To Add Spurs Youngster Kenny McEvoy

McEvoy is a loan target for Preston North End

Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End are ready to make a loan move for Tottenham youngster, Kenny McEvoy. The 21-year-old has already been loaned twice with Peterborough United and Colchester United. If McEvoy were to make the move to Preston North End it would be his first appearance in the Championship.

The young Spurs attacking midfielder has yet to make a first team appearance for the club, yet it is believed that the London’s side coaching staff has a great deal of faith in McEvoy. It seems as though they are preparing him to have quite the experience before making the jump into the first team, which could signify how strongly they feel about his potential.

McEvoy is an Irishman who has been compared to the likes of Gareth Bale and he has already represented Ireland’s international side at the U17, U19, and U21 levels. Although McEvoy can play in the center midfield, he seems to be preferred at a right side forward role in order to accommodate his strong right foot.

After a difficult start to their season (23rd position after 10 games), Preston North End are looking to bolster their attack with pace, which Kenny McEvoy can provide. While it is difficult for a young prospect to crack into an experienced senior squad that it constantly fighting for a top four finish, these types of clubs are often loaning out their prospects to gain first team experience as well as keeping them fit in case they need a call-up in the future.

It’s a wonder as to why Spurs won’t use a top prospect like McEvoy during League Cup matches or even an FA Cup match to give some of the seniors a rest, but in any event, Kenny McEvoy is on pace to break into the top squad if he has a good run with Preston North End. While the deal has yet to be finalized, it seems as though McEvoy will be in line with the Lilywhites within the coming months. The progression McEvoy has made so far should make him a consideration for a top squad appearance, with Spurs, sometime in the near future.
